i don't like any band from the 60's.but in the 60's was the beginning of the hard rock and heavy metal geners.
but in the 80's Hard Rock became extremely popular in 1980s, and became one of the most dominating music genres of the 1980s. Artists such as Van Halen, Twisted Sister, Poison, Ratt, Mötley Crüe, Aerosmith, Prince, Cinderella, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot, Bon Jovi, Guns 'N Roses got extensive airplay.good songs from the 80's

60's music didn't have the lyrics to music lush blend the 80's had. The 60's had some very good moments like The Beatles, Burt Bakarak (spelling?), Henry Mancinni, The Doors, Tommy James and the Shondells, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, Phil Spector (Producer) and all the Mowtown boy and girl groups and such. The 80's ruled the art of studio recording by incorporating synths with real instruments to create a sleek sounding production. 80's highlights include: Toto, Men at Work, Journey, Duran Duran, & The Alan Parsons Project. All these are recommended listening. There were many, really bad, synth-pop bands though. Nothing beats a real drum set.

60's music was all about politics, drugs, the Vietnam war and the sexual revolution. Lots of Psychedelica
80's music was different, cocaine was huge in the eighties and with the advent of the synthesizer, was more electronic, less feeling.
songs that stand out are:
60's: For What it's Worth - Buffalo Springfield
Incense & Peppermints - Strawberry Alarm Clock
Green Tamborine - Lemon Pipers
Journey to the Center of the MInd - The Amboy Dukes
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida - Iron Butterfly
Time Has Come Today - The Chamber Brothers
Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix
Ohio - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Turn, Turn, Turn - The Byrds
Crystal Blue Persuasion - Tommy James and the Shondells
The 80's - One Thing Leads to Another - The Fixx
Whip It - Devo
Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran
I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock of Seagulls
Who Can It Be Now? - Men at Work
Suddenly Last Summer - The Motels
In a Big Country - Big Country
Do You Really Want to Hurt Me - Culture Club
I could go on and on ..................

The 60's saw an emerging counter-culture with there own music to go with the lifestyle. Alot of the psychedelic, folk, and rock music that was produced in this era had meaning. With the Vietnam War, Civil Rights Activism, and new drug culture occurring there was plenty to reflect on and that was shown in the music. The artists and youth of the time had a idealtistic transcendentalism view on the world.
The 80's music scene produced a much more polished, clean sound. With synthesizers and eletronic drums at their the disposal the sound changed. The 80's were about excess and more inward reflective than the 60's and many songs took on the theme of "have a good time".

This might be unfair, but the music of the 60's (at least the late 60's) was about social consciousness, whereas music of the 80's was pretty much about either looking cool, being moody or getting laid.
Also, the musical complexity and range of sounds were drastically different, in that technoogy had advanced to provide heretofore unknown choices.

lol are you serious? xD
In the 80s you had bands like 38 special, frankie goes to hollywood, the ramones, heart, depeche mode, violent femmes, zz top, yes, tom petty and the heartbreakers, the clash. All such great bands. They were a special breed of rock that will never be remade. EVER.
In the 60s however, you had something much more pure and sounded so much different. It was still totally awesome though. Some bands were The beatles, the guess who, the doors, steppenwolf, the rolling stones, the monkees, the who, jimi hendrix, the beegees, the velvet underground. You should listen to all of those bands. every single one. lol Actually more than that...the list is sooooo long. lol

In the sixties, Rock 'n' Roll was just getting on its feet. In the Eighties, it almost choked on its own pomposity!
Seriously, both decades were of exploration.
60's was mostly folk music becoming electrified and trying out new sounds The message in the lyrics was the meat and potatoes. The 80's was MTV generation when image was pushed to the forefront and the music stagnated.
NOT to say there weren't some great bands/songs/sounds from either of these decades, I just think the Seventies was the decade with the best metal!

Loved the 60's , the 80's became blah for me. Used to sing all the songs with the radio later on I could hardly understand a word of the songs and I lost interest

60s music was more creative and often (but not always) lyrically meaningful. Protest music was big. 80s music was more commercial. Examples of classic 60s music was Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, etc. Examples of 80s music is Cars, The Pretenders, Blondie, Talking Heads, Eagles, etc.
