I have heard that Viburnum Missouri (Iron County) has no building codes. So some people live in less then perfect condition and landlords get away with not fixing things. Does anyone know if this is true? Could you please tell me where I can look to find these answers?
Thank you to anyone and all with any help you can offer me

Federal mandates would apply here. Homes may not look pretty but they must have electricity.heating and working water. Other conditiond contact your local H.U.D. office they WILL get your fed. listed problems fixed or take the property. Seen it happen. Good Luck

Just call the county courthouse in Ironton, they can tell you if Viburnum has any building codes. The Viburnum city (or village) council should also be able to answer your question.

I live south of Annapolis myself, hehehe... and there aren't any 'official' codes here... still...if your house does not meet the 'commonly accepted' standards... you can have problems with keeping it insured.

The first place to check would be the state statutes for Missouri. The following link may be helpful:

http://www.moga.state.mo.us/STATUTES/C441.HTM

This should take you to the landlord tenant section of the statutes and provide the law governing same.
