So my husband just called to say he was going to his friend's house after work. Before he had a chance to tell me that I told him that I hadn't eaten dinner yet, but that I would make something before he came home & we could eat together. After I told him, he told me that he was going to his friend's house & would probably be home around midnight. Now this is fine with me, but I'd like to eat dinner before that so I said "I'm not gonna wait to eat, but I'll save you some." (Not even a hint of attitude) After I said that he tells me that he isn't going to his friend's house anymore. This is a time span of about 30 seconds from when he called. Who can figure this out? He thinks I don't want him to go, so he thinks that I'll be happy if he says nevermind, but in reality that does not make me happy: it annoys me. If he was to go out, he should go. I don't want him changing his plans & then blaming it on me. Then I look like a jerk when he tells his friend that he isn't coming over anymore.

He didn't change his plans because of dinner, but because he thought I was mad. He was trying to get me to say, "No, go to your friends house. I want you to go." I think that is dumb. I'm not going to tell him that I want him to go to his friends house because he is trying to play some stupid mind game.

Have you tried explainin all this to him? Men think that women never say what they mean that we expect them to decipher what it is we are saying, in his mind he probably thinks he's doing the right thing, what will make his wife happy which really is a good thing to have in a husband. Also his friends will only think that if that's what he tells em. try really talking to him in simple man words, no offense guys but ya'll do need us to really break it down for you before u believe what we're telling you. Besides that no man can really explain why another man does something, there are always so many reasons for a simple action. Explain to him how u feel about it and then have him explain himself.

He doesn't want any static. He probably just thought you were copping an attitude. In all honesty the way you say things dictate how they are recieved. No blame game here. Just saying if you had said"Well, I'm not going to wait to have dinner" I would have said I'd be home too.If you had said "Ok, but I'm hungry" I would've assumed it was cool to go.

Why did you have to tell him that you were going to eat without him? Wouldn't he assume that you would want to eat before midnight? I would have eaten dinner, made him a plate and left him a note saying your dinner is in the refrigerator, I hope you had fun tonite. I went to bed. Love, Wife. I can't believe he canceled his plans for dinner, that is just crazy.

Men are just about as complicated as we are. I think he read more into ur statement then u thought. Just next time after he states what he wants to do just say okay then have fun and talk to u later. Even without attitude men like to read more into it as much as we do..
