I went to school with a guy who looked like a black dude. Everyone said he wasn't because he didn't decend from Africa. I want to know why is this...why do people think you have to have african decent to be black?? Is black just a descriptive word, like white? Not all white people are from Europe.

Race is just a sociological construct. No one is really 100% anything. Black is associated with people of African descent in America, but Australian Aborigines refer to themselves as "black" because of the color of their skin.

Race, nationality, and skin color are intertwined in a way that is political and "black" or "white" may mean different things in different parts of the world. In America, a person that has one Black parent and one White parent is usually considered Black. That's not the case in other parts of the world.

I usually refer to a person by their nationality not their "race" because race can be ambiguous and even pointless because it says nothing about a person's culture.

I don't understand that either. I think it is assumed that if you are black, that you are African American. Where else could you be from and have black features? Hmmm...good question.

The whole race thing is very confusing to me. I think at one point in our future, we are going to be so mixed together that it will be hard to classify each of us into just one category.

Strange stuff. Good question.

Black is usually synonymous with African American. Dark skin is everywhere across our planet.
