I recently started getting these messages as well...PAIN IN THE ***! Pop ups keep coming up in the lower right hand corner and forcing me to a site where they tell me to purchase spyware protection...anyone figure out how to get this to go away??
**EDIT**
I googled the problem and found a topic in a forum that recommended Spybot Search and Destroy (highly recommended, and free spyware removal software)...my Spy Sweeper wasn't able to find the Titan Shield in its scans.
I dowloaded it for free at http://www.safer-networking.org and it appears to have done the trick. They had an updated in there recently (people said in the forum) for this Titan Shield crap, ...found I think 11 antispyware popups from them and deleted them. I will edit again when I know it worked for sure, but at the moment it seems to have done the trick.

I have this also. Popups and a message saying my computer will be shut down in 55 seconds. The countdown goes to zero and another popup says okay or cancel. what a pain.

#1 - DO NOT FORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE. THAT'S CRAZY!
#2 - GO TO THIS LINK, http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php
I had the same thing happen, and this program works fine. Just follow the directions, and everything will be fixed.

I suspect this is a new rogue antispyware application. We are researching. I've posted a quick note on it on my blog -- http://sunbeltblog.blogspot.com/2006/06/new-rogue-antispyware-app.html
