The hourly rate is equal to the amount paid each week divided by the number of hours. Just do the two division problems, and you'll get it.

Just by looking at it, I'm gonna say Jesse ends up with the higher number, which is just another example of how males get paid higher wages then women (assuming Jesse is a guy)
Anyway, the results of the divisions are their hourly pay rate. Jesse gets paid more then sharon. you'll have to work the numbers out for yourself cause my calculator isn't working, but thats probably what your teacher wanted you to do anyway...

so you have 739.80/42
and
737.17/39
cross multiply so take 39*739.80
and
42*737.17
so you have
42*737.17=39*739.80

They are not equal
you can also just divide
739.80/42=17.61 -about
737.17/39=18.90 -about
