I had to show an ID to rent a stinking DVD the other day and liberals think it's wrong to make people prove they're eligible to vote. Trying to make sense of liberals is often as difficult as catching a fart but this liberal idea has got to be one of the worst ever. But I guess when you've got to get new voters because you constantly lose the battle of ideas in the court of public opinion you'll do what you will. My grandparents, for example, never voted Democrat until AFTER they died.
Can someone explain to me what sense it makes to allow people to vote without showing identification?

"skipper" ... there's no Constitutional right to vote without an ID. At the time the Constitution was written women and all non-whites weren't allow to vote. When the Constitution was amended to correct those wrongs I really don't recall it saying that you had an absolute right to vote even if you didn't have an ID.
Also, a driver's license isn't the only kind of ID there is. Ever hear of a Birth Certificate?

I'm a liberal and I really don't care... that's not one of my party's "core issues"... it's like saying "why do all conservatives want to be able to own automatic weapons?"... many conservatives don't care about automatic weapons.... some do...
it's a fringe issue and not really what's important right now...

What you have to understand is that this is simply a tactic by Republican legislators to disenfranchise largely poor, largely senior and largely minority voters who lack identification.
All three classes of voters tend to be... Democrats.
This is nothing more than a partisan political move to prevent opposition voters from getting to the polls.
Frankly, if you are worried about people voting twice, do what they do in Mexico.... dip their finger in indelible ink which doesn't wash off for several days. They did that in Iraq, too,,, remember the woman at the State of the Union?
Peronally, I believe voting is so important people should only be prevented from voting if there is absolute proof they are NOT allowed to vote. It should be like a criminal trial -- the burden should be on the state to prove you DON'T have the right to vote, not on the voter to prove they do.
And as to the court of opinion, liberal ideas trump conservative ones in virtually every opinion poll imaginable.

because of the fact some electorate who do no longer force and for this reason won't have a drivers license would not be waiting to vote in the event that they had to coach a central authority image identity. some human beings might have a passport, yet maximum folk do no longer. Examples of human beings who will possibly no longer force are elderly human beings and human beings who use buses to get around. it may well be complicated for them to get a central authority image identity. Liberals are not scared to coach identity, they simply are scared that some human beings don't have one to coach. additionally, there have been like 10 circumstances of voter impersonation on account that 2000. it particularly is not often a situation so extensive that it desires measures that would make it so important parts of the inhabitants might have a no longer trouble-free time balloting.

Let me see as in TN just resently,
Mrs Ford had her election over turned when convicted criminals, dead people, and unregestered voters made her winning votes.
So with an ID, you would not get that dead people vote, many an election in TN and GA are won by the dead vote.
Dont the dead have thier civil rights to vote.
And in her stupidity, Ford tried to sue in court over it being a race issue, not a dead voter issue.
They see no problem with dead people voting for them, but not the other party
but their can't be alot of fraud if ID is needed. The blacks complain but honestly, who does not have a ID, they try to call a race issue, like the old poll tax, anything to get hatred without thinking going

That's easy: What if you don't have ID? Then you can't vote! It's a constitutional right to vote. The real question is: what's the point? Just because someone doesn't drive a car doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Say that the person checking id says to people coming in, "I know who you are and where you live, if you don't vote for so-n-so, I'll come visit you in the night. You won't like it."
Well, to truly have a fair election, people need to be anonymous. Not only do they need the curtain to hide their choices, in a perfect world, they need to be able to hide the fact that they voted or not. I agree that it's not practical, but it would be prefered if possible.
One more thing, how do you stop illegal aliens and even visitors to our country from voting?
