Justice is a kind of fairness, but it is usually relative to some particular moral/ethical code. Although, there seems to be an innate sense of justice in most humans too. It's hard to say how much of that we're born with and how much is social conditioning.

Here are some definitions I found on the web. They are consistent with mine.

From Source (1) below: "is a concept involving the fair, moral, and impartial treatment of all persons. In its most general sense, it means according individuals what they actually deserve or merit, or are in some sense entitled to."

From Source (3) below: "Treating others as they deserve to be treated"

From Source (4) below: "Justice is the virtue of treating people in accordance with their actions ..."

Justice has been in effect for a long long time. It was a judging and punishment to those who do wrong--for the protection of others. Without laws and just punishment-lawlessness prevail and many were hurt.

True Justice would be fair.

Justice is being fair, especially in the way people are treated or decisions are made for the people.

Justice is not revenge. An educated, and rational person would now that.

Justice is the premise that right and truth prevails over wrong and lies. Sometimes it doesn't work out with the desired results, but no system is perfect.
