I am on the Yasmin birth control pill. It works great, no wierd side affects, and it costs $40 a month with insurance. You should look in your phonebook for a planned parenthood or a free clinic. I know what it is like to be old enough to be considered an adult, but still not want your parents to know. You should go to your OBGYN if you have one and have a Pap smear and STD check down just to be safe. If your parents ask why you are going, say your school/social club/whatever keeps talking about the importance of having one done every year even if you aren't sexually active. Hopefully they are ok with that and then you can get a sample from your doctor. They are there to help you, and I am sure would be willing to if not give you a few extra samples to last a few months, at the very least work with you to find some place you can get them. Do NOT go on the shot though. I got pregnant on the shot, and it also can cause bone loss. GOod Luck!!

You should definately talk to your doctor and look at your options. I have an IUD and I love it. It is good for 5 years, and I don't have to do anything. I also used the patch and liked it bacause I only had to change it once a week and that was easier to remember. But now, I am in heaven you sould definetly look into it. I couldn't tell you how much it costs, because I had military insurance so it was covered, but a good majority of insurances do not cover the pills. If nothing else you should be able to go to your local health department (family planning) and they should be able to help you. As far as having an adult, you are 18 so you are old enough to make your own decisions. Good luck!

A lot of health departments provide the pill for really cheap and you don't have to have a parents' permission or anything as long as you're 13. Check your phone book for your county's health department and ask.
I did that when i was 14 and i think i got like 3months worth of pills for 3 dolllars and they give you a bag of condoms for free too! But you probably wouldn't be able to sneek an insurance statement past your parents if you had it prescribed....so i would go the other route.

if you are 18 you will not need your parent there, medicaid covers it i think all insurance covers it, but make sure to ask about ortho tricyclin, it is the best, just tell your doctor that you want to start the pill, i think they do a pelvic exam and definetily a pregnancy test, but the only thing that could possibly get in you way would whether or not you could afford it, i think it runs around 30 or 40 maybe less with insurance

you have to have a prescription, but if medi-cal is like the medicaid in ohio, it will cover. check webmd for great information. try planned parenthood, and definitly check with your doctor first. you must have a full check-up before you can be prescribed any sort of birth control (including a pelvic). since you are 18, your mother does not need to know if you dont want her to. if you dont feel comfortable talking to your family doctor, ask for a referral to an ob/gyn.

(I am an RN in Women's Health.) Local health departments provide Family Planning and Birth Control (pills, injections, patch, condoms, etc.) free or at very little cost of just few dollars at most. Services provided are completely confidential. Examinations are proved by nurse practioners, physicians' assistants, and medical doctors as in Doctors' offices. At 18, you are considered an adult in the US.

you are 18 you are an adult, and if what you have is like medicaid you are covered until you are 21 and the pills should either be free of charge, or only a dollar or 2, if it is just medical coverage, it should only cost what the deductible is on the insurance is

If your mom still goes with you to your doctors appointment, the doctor usually asks you if you want her there with you, you can tell the doctor you want to speak to him/her alone. Are you irregular? cause if you are you can tell your mom that you're getting on the pill to become regular.
If that's not an option, you can contact your local Planned Parenthood and see what they can do for you.
