The grandfather is technically a son, so if it were three generations there would be two fathers and three sons, Not 2 fathers and 2 sons. (The grandfather is a son regardless of whether HIS father is there.) So unless I am missing something, your questions in and of itself is flawed, unless there's a daughter that you didn't mention, then indeed there would be three people: Grandfather(also son) Father(also son) and daughter(not son). I don't know, I am confused.

Three men went fishing a grandfather, a father and a son. The grandfather counts as one father, the son as one son. The father counts as both a father and a son thus giving you 2 fathers and 2 sons but only three fish.

Completely.
person 1 is the Grandfather (father 1)
person 2 is the Father (father 2 and son 1)
person 3 is the Son (son 2)
Its 3 generations of a family. Easy one, now give me a harder one.

easy... you said 2 fathers and 2 sons so the men were a boy his father and his grandfather. Both the father and grandfather are fathers and the father and boy are both sons. 2 fathers... 2 sons.

It is a grandfather, a father, and a son. The father is a son to the grandfather, and a father to the son.
