I'm good with animals and enjoy nature, but I can't usually get deep or profound enjoyment from it that my certain members of my family and friends seem to. I'm pretty much left out. How does one 'get into' something? Is it a huge, stunning revalation, or do you just have to genuinely love flora and fauna (or all life, for that matter)?

I was driving down I-195 across central Jersey when I spotted a black bird with a yellow and red spot on each shoulder sitting on a fence. What the heck is that, I kept wondering. I couldn't forget it until I got home hours later. I grabbed my mom's bird book and found out it was a red-winged blackbird. I bought my own bird book and a pair of binoculars and have been birding for 14 years. It's brought me closer to nature.

Everyone has different talents, perceptions and "connections"...for some it is the animal kingdom, some it is the oceans... I have a girlfriend that still cries everytime she sees Shamu the Whale at SeaWorld...she feels so "connected"... yet... my connection is with a different part of "nature" the trees, the animals etc...

My point is .. Everyone doesn't have to be into the same thing. When you are open and receptive.. the "thing" you are meant to be connected to will find you.

I know for me... it is just a sense of being "grounded"...do you know what I mean by that ? Centered...calm at the core of my being... that is when I know I am in the presence of that "thing" I am connected to.

Safe journeys and don't worry... keep your mind open, breath deeply and know your path is in front of you...

Find a clearing in some woods or sit on a semi-empty part of the beach. Let your mind empty and just listen and feel. You'll understand what the rest of your family id talking about.

Interesting question. I think it just takes the right type of "mind" set. Don't force it, just relax and look around and see what you can appreciate about nature, animals, etc. The world is full of fascinating stuff - take the time to really see what is going on around you.

cant say it was a stunning revelation but do believe all life is sacred-have no problem interacting with nature and love to watch and learn from them-spent one night catching fish for a nursing fox-that will stay with me forever-lots of love keep the peace old hippie

If you believe that nature is sacred, you can become one with it. If you believe you are above it, it just won't happen. Recognize the soul in Nature and you'll see. View it with awe, it is so much bigger than you. There is so much out there, are you so insignificant? No! You're part of all of it.
Than you'll know

Wolves are my favorite animal, I pray for them every night and I pray that I will be one in my afterlife and every time I go to the zoo, the wolves just walk right up to me. of course there are bars and gates and I can't touch them but they just walk up to me over everyone else and watch me and I watch them. It's like they read my mind... (I know, major freaky right?)

in reality i am more in-tuned with the animals and nature,it is a very important learning tool in my culture..i am no more important than a blade of grass,we equally share a duty here on mother earth..under every rock and leaf is a lesson..listen with your heart when you speak with the four legged, not your ears.

aw well honestly humans are above nature you see God created man to not really be in one with nature instead he created us to rule over nature and kind of be the bosses and we are supposed to worship him and love everyone else and show them the truth which is that Jesus died on the cross for us and well we need to accept him and have eternal life in heaven and not hell
