There is no one correct answer. In general, black is used for negative. For AC, white is most commonly positive and for DC, red is positive. These are generalizations and there are exceptions everywhere. Most important is to pick a standard for your use and adhere to it religeously. If in doubt when working with other wiring examples, ask for expert help and/or use a meter.

This can be rather Confusing. In DC Circuits, TV Audio, Etc. Red is the + Hot Positive Wire. Black is the - Ground Negative Wire. In A/C Household Wiring Black is the Hot Wire, Labeled L 1 and L 2 . White is the Neutral Ground Wire. The Bare, Uninsulated Wire is the Earth Ground Wire. Hope This Helps !

as a rule your positive is gonna be a red one and the negative will be black..usually the ground is green or gray..a light color may represent a positive lead but check the manual .
