Cat back means, from the catalytic converter, back - so if you have no cat, what are you going to attach it too?

I have no cats on my stang right now. I have been running no cats on the car for about 4 years now and no problems.
If you buy some h-pipes for your ride from your performance shop then you need to get what is called mils and this goes on the o2 sencers and it tricks the computer on letting the computer thinking that it has cats. That would be the way to go. I am running h-pipes down to my flowmasters to my 3 inc pipes. As for the cat back system i am not sure how that set up is. If you want to have a loud ride with the rumble that would be the way as i told you. As for the inspection all i do is go right up there and get it done. With the mils on the computer will tell the computer that everthing is running good. PASS!!!! They also carry h pipes with the cats already on them. Look into them. Your choice.

legally, yes!
cat back exhaust though, isnt effected by cats. wont make a difference if you have one or not, in terms of the exhaust system.
in terms of power, removal of cats will increase power. but, unless you, seriously, plan on doing a lot more to the engine, dont bother taking them out. just taking a risk with fines, and many other legal implications, for little performance gain on its own.
no you dont need them, but, on a car like that, they arnt doing much in terms of holding you back.

yes, you do because newer cars need the cats back pressure to run and if you take it off the car will run in restrictive mode thats when your car will not go faster thatn like 25mph, because the cars computer senses that there is some thing wrong with the car. also it is illegal, i would suggest holloing out the cat if you really want to take it off
