Most schools are selling either IBM/Lenovos or Apple. If you want the least amount of hardware conflicts and file problems, go with Windows based. If you are an artist or graphic arts major, go with Apple.

windows would be a good choice for schoolwork since most curriculums use it as a basis for their own systems .
windows uses many great programs like microsoft word that can enhance your learning experience. On the other hand Apple computers have greatly improved in the last ten years and if you are computer capable it may be a fruitful switch.hope this helps.

i've used pc's for over 10 years. 2 months ago i bought my first apple - the macbook pro laptop. it is the best computer i've ever bought. no problems, everything just "works". you can now install windows on a macintosh machine (the new intel ones) and run both windows and mac os x.. i will never buy another pc again. apple's are so much more fun and much more powerful than any pc. i also use my macbookpro for school and love it.

I think its better from now only to make the schoolgoers exposed to open source software like Linux. Buy a Lenovo/Dell/Toshiba laptop and install Suse 10.0 Linux on it (www.opensuse.org). Believe me, this operating system is ten times as better as Windows and more user friendly. You could also try Ubuntu (www.ubuntu.com)
Using open source will save a lot of money for the schoolgoer and it allows him/her to explore things in a better way.

It depends....
If you are art major, working alot with graphics, go with Apple; otherwise go with Windows...
Also, you need to consider what your friends/teachers use. If most of them use Windows, go with Windows. You still can go with Apple, but you might have to deal with some incompatibility issue of data format...
Hope it helps...

It depends on what type of school your in. An art type school I would go for the mac. It has better artistic features. If its regular ... boring school use Windows.
