That is an interesting saying. I remember seeing a shirt that said on the front If you love someone set them free.....then on the back it said if they dont return hunt them down and kill them like the dog they are.
But for the most part it is true. If you love someone and they are not happy with you or in the realationship then you need to let them be free. If not so much for their happiness but for your own. I don't know what is worse being in a ralationship where you don't love the person or being the person that is not loved.

Yes there is, because if you hold something too tightly, you will squeeze the "life" out of it. In a relationship, if you try to hold onto a person too tightly, you will damage the relationship. If you let them go, and they return to you, they are yours forever. If they don't return, you never had their love anyway. It's hard to do, but if they want to go, you must let them go. Hopefully they will come back, and be yours.

The saying is "If you love someone, let them go, if they come back, they were always yours, if not, set them free" And yes...there is wisdom to it. It means if your loved one wants to go/break-up, let them go.....if they really love you, they will come back to you.

I think that there is wisdom in this, at least from a Christian point of view. In my humble opinion, god has a plan for everyone. If God intends for you to be with a specific person, then it will happen. The bible says: 'If God is with us, then who can be against us?"...It applies to every aspect of life. Seek first the kingdom of God and all else will fall into place.

Yes,, Think about it....Loving enough to let go is the purest love....no matter how you benefit from holding on to it...letting go shows your unconditional commitment to care for that person or thing.
