NO NO No, here is your real solution. Go to www.melaleuca.com. they have a product called sol-u-mel This is a safe non toxic, non caustic cleaner. I have used this for removing gum from carpet, mud from carpet, hot chocolate , permanent marker from vinyl floor and walls and wooden cabinets. This stuff will do the job, no questions asked. You buy a bottle for like 8.99. It can be diluted to make 2 24 oz bottle. but to remove gum, you will want to pour a little bit on top of the gum and then take a damp cloth and rub the gum out. it will come straight up. No scrubbing, no damage to your furniture. Good Luck!!
