Does anyone else get urges to join the foreign legion?

Theres nothing i can think of thats missing from my life and im a very happy person. Im 23 have 1 year left in an engineering degree and have a loving girlfriend. I cant understand where im getting this urge from. If it was the priesthood i would consider it a calling. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Im kinda worried that im gonna go to the airport and go one of these days and not tell anyone.

Yeh man, I had exactly the same urge! I even checked it out online, but the training for it is seriously tough and I think, if I remember rightly, you have to learn to speak french, but you do get a completely new identity, not that I need one but still it would be a pretty cool thing to have,

I've had urges to join the Navy, the Merchant Marine, the Forestry service, and the Peace Corps. I worry about it too much. It's not some clinical disorder... at least, I don't think it is.

Having actually joined the Navy, I do recommend that you tell your family and girlfriend if you do decide to "go off and join" anything.

I would also reccomend getting that degree. You can always join later, like if the job market isn't so hot once you've got the degree.

The foreign legion you are referring to is the French Foreign Legion. It is very much in existence.... I met a person recently who retired from it.

there must be something going on in you to be feeling the way you do , you dont just want to run away for no reason, you should maybe consider speaking to a councillor or similar person to get to the bottom of your fears , hope you get it sorted
