A baseball player kneeling in the on-deck circle. He's wondering out loud if he's going to be sent to the minors because a new hot shot rookie has been called up to the big leagues, and they both play the same position. The baseball player in the on-deck circle is wondering if this might be the end of his career. He's so distracted he's not paying attention to the game. If you want to read someone's monologue read MacBeth, "Life is a walking shadow. A poor player that struts and frets upon the stage and is heard no more..." I think it's in Act V Scene II.
