Im supposed to take my birth control pills without taking the sugar ones for 3 months straight but Im having break through bleeding. Should I go ahead and take the sugar pills and have a real period then start a new pack? Or continue to take the active pills in the next pack?

what you need to do is call your doctor, or have your mother call for you.

I had the EXACT same thing happen when I was on the 3-month pill. I called a nurse and she told me to continue taking the active pills as I normally would and that the break-through bleeding was common with this type of pill and it could take a long, long time for the body to get used to the new cycle. That's just what the nurse told me, but if you're worried call your doctor.

You might be sensitive to that particular formula. There are different formulations of the pill and you may need to try some others if break-through bleeding occurs and it's something you don't want happening.Break-through bleeding is a very common occurrence with birth control pills. Talk with your doctor.

it's probably normal and will last the entire time. check w/ the person that gave you the pills (dr., planned parenthood, etc.). good luck. i was on the depo shot for 6 months (2 shots) and had bleeding the entire time, now i'm on the patch and all is good.

I'd call your physician. He/She would know your body better and could assess the situation.
