Not tryin to be cold hearted but it is probably not possible to do it with out hurting his feelings. Just tell him, be honest. Most guys would not be that worried about your feelings if they wanted to loose you. Just like everyone else in the world he deserves honesty and not telling him will just make it worse in the long run. He would not wait about telling you. Good luck.

Probably can't be done. Just be swift and it should be as painless as possible. Simply tell him the perfect line, "We should be friends." He might not get it at first, but that is the international saying for "We are breaking up." He'll need to learn it some day. You might as well be the one to use it on him.
Now, if this is a case of he is just a friend that you don't want to hang out with anymore, then don't even worry about him. You don't care enough for him to have him as a friend, no sense in wasting you time worrying about his feelings.

im not sure it isnt possible but i can tell you to be honest with him , gently honest. it will hurt for a while but he will be glad in the long run and he will respect you for it eventually when he gets over it. honesty is the best way to go.
