Shrinking linen shorts?

I have a pair of linen shorts that are too big for me.. They have only been handwashed so far.
Any ideas of how to shrink them?

The only thing I know to do is to wash them in hot water and put them in the clothes dryer. If that doesn't shrink them, nothing short of a seamstress will.

Take them to a talor. Will cost a few bucks, but will be worth it for a perfect fil
