Nothing better than lots of water prior to playing...24 hours not just an hour before. Another proven solution is pickle juice. Lots of athletes swear by the stuff. It may simply be the salt in the juice which takes the place of 'salt' tablets that were popular in the 60s for athletes.

Make sure your system has plenty of Potassium in it. Make sure you are using sports drinks that include it; a banana is a good source for it. Wear loose fitting bright colored clothing and stop for a beverage after every change of sides.

Drink power aid drinks 2-3 days previous to playing use them instead of water then you wont overheat

Make sure that you are drinking lots of water the day before and the day of when you play. Also drink plenty during play. Make sure you have acclimated to the heat before trying to play a lot.
