I have piercing in the cartilage of my ear. I had it pierced early last year and it still hurts. Is this unusual for a piercing to still hurt even after so much time has gone by? I want to pull it out so bad, but the pain is awful.

First of all, I wouldnt touch it at all, the more you touch it, the worse it is going to get. Secondly, go to the store and buy distilled water and get some sea salt as well. You need to add the sea salt to warm water (1/4 teaspoon per 8oz of distilled or boiled water) and hold it on the piercing for 15 minutes, a few times a day. Since it is your ear, i recommend using cotton balls soaked in the solution. If you do this for a week two or three times a day, the infection should clear itself up. The sea salt will take all the gunk and bacteria out of the piercing. This way you can avoid the pain of taking the piercing out, and you can keep the piercing. If you still want to take it out, i would have a piercing professional do it. Also, if you choose to clean the piercing, do not use alcohol, or anti-bacterial soap, these dry out the skin, make the piercing even more dry and irritated. Good luck.

Take a strong painkiller like oxycontin, darvon or propoxyphene.
After the pill kicks in your ears won't hurt a bit and you can pull the thing out without flinching.
Cartilage piercings can be risky, you may have infected cartilage, go see a doctor.

it is pretty normal for it to still hurt, mine hurt for a long time. if its painful and you want to keep it, just start cleaning it all the time again ansd maybe that will help, bt if you're going to take it out, make sure its not infected, and if it is, go to the doctors and get him to fix that. you dont want to take the peircing out if its infected because then the hole will heal over the infection and it'll always be there with nowhere to go. and therfore always painful. . .

A smart person would go to their MD. The doctor could probably numb it with a topical lidocaine and then remove it with minimal pain. What if it is infected? Don't you want proper treatment? Good luck.

have ur mom or dad pull it out while u are cluching a pillow or stuffed animal. also try not to scream but if u do it is ok. You also might try putting rubbing alcohol on it, it helps it from getting infected even more if it already is.
