When Napoleon (stupidly) attempted to invade Russia. The Russian winter got him and he was forced back, with only 40.000 troops left. He had left with 650.000. Then Hitler tried the same thing many years later, and guess what?
He failed! He had many losses and the great German army was practically annhialated.
Does this help?

The Punic Wars between Rome and Carthage and the Vietnamese War
In both cases a superpower just stepped in to help out with some minor skirmishes, and things eventually escalated to large scale war and a series of invasions.
Also: Almost any case where an aboriginal population is invaded by outsiders who come to dominate the population e.g. Indoeuropean tribes invade Europe and partially replace pre-existing populations; next European populations invade Western Hemisphere
Also: Rise of dictators such as Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Kubla Khan, Napoleon, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler

Bonaparte Napoleon tried to invade Russia and got defeated by the russian winter. I forgot the year, I think it was in the late 1400's(Napoleaon Bonaparte was a French King).
Adolf Hitler did the same thing: He tried to invade Russia and got defeated by the russian winter---those 2 examples are probably a good example of how history repeats itself

A true and real example of history repeating itself is that the way you behave with your parents will come back to you with your own children.

Adolf Hitler ordered that all people of Jewish decent wear a badge (Star of David) on their clothing to identify themselves. That was in the 1930's (for the History impaired) Fast forward to today..... Hamas leaders of the now governing group of Palestine are wanting to make it mandatory that all Christians and Jews wear a badge (Cross or Star of David) on their clothing to identify themselves.
