As an artistic statement, "Living With War" is right up there in the Neil Young repetoire with "Tonight's The Night." I think Neil Young has more artistic integrity than anyone left in the popular music world. Having said that, I knew that with all the hype the album and song ("Let's Impeach The President") were getting before it was released that it could only be anticlimactic. For an artist who is consistent in his inconsistency, and an old guy to boot, "Living With War" has some balls to it. You get the idea that Neil Young HAD to make this record, to express how he felt. Myself, I was certain that the powers that be would have stopped the release of the album right up until the day it was released.
"Let's Impeach The President" is probably the best song on it. And I would be willing to bet that Neil Young won't face even a tenth of the flack over it that the Dixie Chicks continue to face over their anti-Bush sentiments. I thought "Let's Roll", his 9/11 paean, was extremely opportunistic. "Living With War" is different. My only complaint about the project is that he has to cheapen the sentiment of the thing by taking it on the road with Crosby, Stills and Nash. Now CSN/CSNY are good (killer harmonies, before they destroyed themselves with cocaine...they didn't call CSN "The Frozen Noses" for nothing!) but the problem with CSN is they take their social conciousness waaaaay too seriously. They wrote some good, socially relevant songs on their first two albums thirty five years ago but they believed their own hype just a wee bit too much. Neil Young doesn't need them...he should go out and perform "Living With War" with Crazy Horse because he's always done his most agressive, passionate music with the Horse!

The lyrics of "Let's Impeach the President" are so childish. Add to that the fact they're both misleading and blatantly untrue.
We have got to stop worshiping rock stars as if they are the Oracle at Delphi. More often than not, they are the typically hypocritical "limousine liberals."
Don't get me wrong. I like a lot of Neil Young's music. When he played with Patti Smith, it was amazing. But I don't confuse their talent for music with political understanding.
Patti Smith is much more of a poet than Neil Young. I doubt she could ever write such amateurish lyrics that seem as if they could have come from a High School freshman. At least Patti's lyrics are intriguing and thought provoking.

The album is fantastic, but, it will never match Greendale. However as for that particular song its really cool the way he direcltly mixes in Bush's quates into the song. Heck I think the concept of impeaching him is great too, but then that would just put cheney in. That would really REALLY stink.

Not exactly an original theme. Chicago had "A song for Richard and his Friends" back in the early 1970's. Funny, but I think it's the only song they ever came out with that I didn't like.

I loved it, I heard some of it today on this mornings "Today Show." Montel also played some of Bruce Springsteen's new music, which is on the same lines.... America wants the Neocons gone soon.... The Neocon propaganda isn't the truth of what is really happening in the U.S.A..... Changes are going to happen whether you all want it or not... The Republicans have had their chance and blew it max city.... Your out of there......

If we impeach Bush then Dick would be in charge. Do you want Dick or Bush. I prefer Bush myself.
