I have a few:
Get as many references you can from previous jobs (or professors/instructors, if recent grad). Take these references with you to the interview, assuming you have good references. I make color photocopies of the reference letters and put them in a presentation folder along with color copies my certificate and 2 copies of my resume on bond paper.
I treat the interview like a sales call... my presentation folder advertises me and my skills. Also shows the interviewer taht you are serious about the job. Many ppl will write 'references will be furnished upon request' in ther resumes... what I am saying is that my references are so strong, I will give them to you before you ask for them. Ditto with the certificates... I am in the IT field... I give them copies of all certificates of classes/rewards I have achieved. Remember a picture is worth a 1000 words.
I also take examples of my work with me as a portfolio... like reports, white papers, diagrams, etc. anything to demonstrate what I know.
My interviews have gone so well, that I end up making a presentation intsead of being interviewed and have always got a job offer after an interview.

Hi,
The most important thing to remember about job searches is that you should use a combination of methods regardless of your location.
Networking - Register at your local Unemployment Office (you don't need to be on unemployment to register for their assistance). They often will have networking groups on a regular basis. They also are a good source for the jobs that never show up in the paper or online.
Check your local paper -- In many cases the paper's classified are now online.
Search Smart Online -- If you don't have a lot of time, spend most of your time at sites that aggregate the job feeds from several job search engines. Prominently these include indeed.com and thingamajob.com.
Organization -- I use a free online application that allows you to track your ads, jobs you apply for, send or print mail merged correspondence, and track your job search history. This site is jobsearchlog.com
Good Luck,
Karen

Network - tell everyone you're looking for a job.
The majority of jobs are found through networking (approx 65%). Also, research the companies you would like to work for and then send them your resume with a cover letter.
Use the free online job search engines to get a feel for what jobs are open and what employers are offering for pay

You can start by seeing your local newspaper, submitting your resume online like in monster.com, and doing some research on different companies which some accept resumes online.
