no and were still surprised why the US got ranked 5th well thats going to change after this world cup.

Can we win? Yes.
Will we win? Probably not.
Most people - including most Americans - don't give the USA credit enough for our soccer team. Or did they forget the Women's team has already won 2 world cups?
Most of the men's national team plays in Europe these days, not just in the US league.
USA made it to the final 8 four years ago ... considering more of our players have been playing in the big leagues in Europe, I don't see why we couldn't make it that far. But, it will be a few more world cups before I would bet on us winning (assuming the team continues to progres).
Hey, the US beat Mexico in the qualifying rounds - we don't suck!

I honestly think that the USA won't win the World Cup...yet. We must keep it up with our excellent game and be convinced that we can do well. I see us making it into the 2nd round on. But if we go to quarters or semis, I'll be very happy and scream my lungs out. We have a good team, don't hear me wrong but this team of ours is a process of many years. That 50 year absence really screwed us and if you asked me now, we could really win the World Cup now. But let's leave it all in Germany and hope to beat every team in our road. We can be a serious World Cup candidate in 2010 though and I'm very pleased at the work Arena's done and all the passion our boys leave on the field. I hope to be wrong and see us pull alot of upsets to make semis maybe but 2nd round is the minimum goal. Remember if we had eliminated Germany in 2002, we'd face Korea in semis and might've been in the final. It all depends on the team's spirit, union. And we have alot of that. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! C'MON USA, LET'S KICK ***!!

No I won't watch. No I won't care if they win. As to thinking it will make things popular look what happened when the Woman's team was winning. No one cared, sure it helped women make an argument for women but it did NOTHING for soccer. We simply don't care about the sport in this Country no matter how hard they try to push it.

most americans just assume we are bad a soccer but were currently 5th in the world and could have a real shoot if our defense holds strong like it has been. i think the biggest thing is us just making it out of our division cause we are definitely in the hardest one and the only problem america might have is if it comes down to a tie in our division we're not a high scorein team and goal differential is the deciding factor...but yea if we make it out i think we could have a really good shot of goin all the way

I would love to see us win, but, i doubt. Just getting out of our group of death would be a success, and the world should see that.
Also, if we do get out, and face Brazil, if we can hang with them for a while, the USA demands the respect of the rest of the world.

As much as I would love to yell "AMERICA! F**K YEAH! ALL THE WAY BABY!!!"
