It should be a college that is regionally accredited at a minimum. In addition, if you plan to specialize in certain fields in the medical area, your program may also need certain types of professional accreditation, or you won't be allowed to practice. You also want your college to have a decent reputation with employers. It should have a good enough rep that you can actually get a job in your field when you come out. It should not be actively disliked. That said, the college itself does *not* need to specialize in the field you want. It needs to offer appropriately accredited degrees in your field, but it doesn't need to specialize only in that field. You can do just great with a nursing degree from a community college, for example - and ccs don't specialize only in nursing.
