Help For My Mom!!!!!!!!?

Does anybody know how I can find out about MRSA? My mom had this and we need more information.

Hello...I'm a nurse and work with patients who have MRSA all the time. The letters stand for: Methicillin Resistent Staph Aureus. Quite the mouthful, eh? Methicillin is a class of antibiotics. This type of Staph infection is resistent to treatment, requiring "big gun" antibiotics to treat. The full name for the Staph part is staphylicoccus. It is a particular type of "bug" and, as the name implies, is difficult to treat. It used to be MRSA was only ever found in hospital or nursing home settings. Not true anymore. Now we find it out in the community. A healthy person may carry it without actually becoming ill from it; may never know they have it 'til blood tests identify it. For the very young, the elderly and anyone who's health is fragile for one reason or another, it can become a problem, because their immune system (your body's system for fighting infection) is weakened under those circumstances. It can be passed by improper hand washing after contact with someone who has it, contact with contaminated items. Someone may have "positive" MRSA culture of the mucus in their nose or throat; they can pass it along with a moist sneeze or cough. Best bet? Wash hands thoroughly for 15 seconds at a time. Use the paper towel to dry your hands and to shut off the faucet then discard it. Then get a fresh paper towel to open the restroom door to exit. I carry hand sanitizer in my purse...you know...those bottles of hand gels. I use it if I've handled public doorknobs or elevator buttons in public buildings, hand rails, etc. I haven't had a cold or the flue in over 2 years and I know washing my hands is the reason why. If I visit someone sick, I wash my hands. I also wash my hands before visiting someone sick. If the infection (the MRSA) is enough to cause or add to current problems, a potent antibiotic called Vancomycin might be necessary. It can only be given in a vein with an IV. Some of the newer antibiotics may help, too. Several of them also have to be given via an IV. I know this is a huge amount of information to absorb, but I hope it helps. The doc will know what the appropriate/correct treatment is for your mom's situation. I've tucked you both in my prayers. Take special care.

MRSA is a very serious form of Staphylococcus aureus bacterium. It is reisitant to all forms of penicillins and is very hard to treat. However, I am not sure what type your mom has, so I don't know what information to give you.

You should call your local health dept. and ask for more information about it. My family was exposed to it several years ago and we were told that we would all need to be checked for symptoms if the carrier had a certain type. There is a type that can be passed from person to person.

MRSA is short for Methycillin Resistant Staph Aureus. It is a hard to kill bacteria that guarantees her an isolation room in the hospitals and is becoming more and more prevalent everywhere including hospitals and nursing home. Ask her physician about it or better yet, look it up on the internet.

She is on the whole having a nasty day, if she is like this the entire time perhaps you might check out serving to her out a few across the residence you understand do a load of cloths and fold them,sweep the ground,vacume or grime simply take 10 min out of the day to do anything handy she might be grateful i do know im a mother and a spouse my children are younger in order that dont hassle me that they dont aid out reason they cant however my hubby is lazy i might adore it if he might simply cross do the dishes and sweep the ground and do a well task at it you understand no longer part a*s! well success together with your mother
