Her stretch marks will gradually become much less noticeable in the months to come but will never go away as they are similar to scars. However, she can see a dermatologist to discuss treatment. Here are a few options:
1. tretinoin cream (commonly known by the trade name Retin-A)
2. laser therapy
Her health insurance plan will not cover "cosmetic" procedures so she'll probably want to find out what this will cost.

she might try some vitamin E oil to help lighten them. Normally they are there for good. Stretch marks are just that. The stomach grew very fast and the skin doesn't have enough elasticity or it just stretched to fast and the tissue under the skin separated from the skin its self causing this. I did not get any until the last week of my first pregnancy which was 14 years ago and I have tried everything. Congrats on the new baby though!!

I have stretch marks too! I had my son last March. It's summer now and it's so hott out.. but I don't like wearing shorts or a swimming suit because I don't like people seeing my strech marks either. But maybe she could go tanning. That is my plan. I heard they won't go away.. but they will lighten up and not be so red! I've seen that when people go tanning that got strech marks.. they look kind of white. So, that's better than beat red! If she got tanner, I'm sure she'd be more secure about her body! Cause I know I will.

aww. thats very sad. there are inexpensive ways to prevent strech marks (cocoa butter is a great example, just smear that stuff all over where your getting ready to pop out of your skin every day, and you just wont get them) but now that she already has them, laser surgery is the only option, and thats pretty expensive.
they do at least blend in with your skin tone after a couple years

Nothing will ever get rid of them, but there is things she can do to help.
She just had a baby so just giving it time will help. They will fade with time. Mine are almost all silver and my baby just turned 1.
Second, firming up the tummy again will help, do crunches, and drink skim milk to get back elactisicty.
Cocobutter is supposed to help, and there are stretchmark creams out there, but my doctor told me they won't get rid of them completely. They are expensive, but might be worth a try.

they go away with time, diet and excercise. She thinks that's a problem. Wait until she gets the dark circles under her eyes from being up at all hours to care for a crying baby.

plastic surgery is the only 100% effective way. It may take two or three operations over a couple years, depending on how bad the marks are.
Generally, it just isn't worth it.

No...not that I know of.
I have some and I can swim and wear cute jeans. Although, I don't think I"ll even wear a bikini again...you can find cute tankinis though. Or, even one pieces...

Pure shea butter is good, but I didnt use it consisitently enough to see if it would get rid of mine. They did fade with time but didnt go away. But others have told me that it has worked well for them.
