in SoCal, it is for making pre-school mandatory. That money should me for hiring new teachers b/c of overcrowded classrooms and restoring bad schools and funding programs such as D.A.R.E.

Thank goodness this proposition didn't pass. Taxing the wealthy (an individual earning $400,000 anually or $800,000 for a couple) to fund preschool is a lame idea. Why would you penalize those people with money for the benefit of society? If everyone were to actually benefit from this proposition, then everyone should pitch in -- especially the parents of those pre-school kids!

prop 82 doesnt make pre-school mandatory, it taxes the rich people to help the needy people pay for pre school. at least that is how i interpreted it. but even if it makes pre school mandatory, what is wrong with that? i think pre school is very beneficial to kids, it helps socialize them and get them ready for school. i dont see a problem in that. sorry, i voted yes.

Have you ever seen statistics on DARE? It's a pretty awful program.
