I would rather be the bird in the hand so I peck at it until it let me go so I could fly far, far away.

I'd rather be the bird next to the bird that deposits that yucky stuff on my car, then I could smack it around for awhile. So, I sure wouldn't want to be a bird in the hand, doesn't matter where I park, the bird finds me.
So, I 'd rather be the bird in the bush, because I would be scared to be by the bird that was beside the bird that is going to smack me around for putting yucky stuff on her car.
