No, you shouldn't give him water. Water will fill him up without giving him any nutrition that he needs for growth and development.

Hiccups don't hurt or bother the baby. Just ignore them, and they'll get better all by themselves.

No no no you really shouldn't give them water at all not until they are 1 because they have tiny stomachs and if they fill up on water then they won't get the nutrients that their bodies need.

Their formula will have enough water in it as he said so if that doesn't work then try pedialite, otherwise the water plan won't be at all beneficial.

Ok so I just asked my doc (I work at a hospital and we aren't doing anything right now so I am answering your question) She said most times it is because they swollow too much air so try to pat his back while he is in an upright postion to get the air out of his tummy, also try to switch to Dr. Browns bottles which have a tube that pull the air away form the nipple so he doesn't get too much air while eating provided he isn't nursing. Those can be found at Wal Mart, that is what I use for my son's acid reflux. Good luck let me know if that works!

Let me see if I can't find some other remedies for hiccups....

well if the doctor says not to, i wouldnt. he is right about the formula containing water, and if you give your baby plain water, it may fill him up and then he wont drink the normal amount of formula that he needs. hiccups dont really bother babies and they will go away on their own. just listen to the doctor, he knows best.

I don't know how old your baby is, but we always gave our babies water from 6 weeks on. They didn't have any problems from this. We even tried the old wives tale of putting sugar on your finger or the nipple of the bottle and giving this to the baby. We found out the hiccups just had to run there coarse.

no dont give an infant water!! it has no calories and can cause a baby to be malnurished, as a nutritionist i will tell you you should never give a baby water for any reason, they dont need it, if he has to drink give him formula but it wont do much about the hiccups. hiccups are caused be spasims of the diaphram not digestive issues.

you can give your baby a lil bit of water if you want. it doesn't harm him in anyway, just have him sit up for about 10-15min after you feed him water, it will help them go away. you really don'thave to do anything cuz you're baby is fine. it doesn't bother him at all.

i believe you need another doctor. my pediatrician had told me, if you are breastfeeding you shouldn't have to feed your baby water. but if you are feeding your baby formula, then you do. b/c even tho there is enough water in formula, it's not enough to keep your baby hydrated in the heat. and since your baby is small he/she can get hydrated really fast.
so, whenever you have him outside for 30min or more in the heat (sun or no sun) i think it'd be wise to feed your baby at least one oz of water. i did that to be on the safe side.

sorry, i knew you weren't asking about that. but i felt like giving you the advice you may not have known.

BTW. you don't need to give your tiny baby flavored water unless, he doesn't drink the plain water. and you don't need "baby water" to feed your baby. water is water. you can just use the bottled water you drink yourself. it's all purified the same way. why pay more for something you can drink yourself!

Your a mom you can give your baby water (Gerber makes water bottles now). Depending on how old your baby is doctors don't suggest water as the stomach is still growing and so on. If you choose to give the baby water make sure its a baby water Gerber, pedialyte.
