Gets a bit worse for the Dems when one compares American soldiers lost in Democratic wars to Republican wars. If you forget, it's millions to mere thousands. Does the GOP truly deserve the "war party" status? I think you need to think again!

Kudo's for some good work, although I doubt that many liberals will buy into these facts. I would like to take issue with one area of contention and that is the Viet Nam war. It is true that JFK sent in advisors to contain the communists, but it was the old hawk Lydon Baines Johnson that escalated the war and sent in troops. I believe that Viet Nam was Johnson's war. After he lost the stomach to continue, when he had Charlie on his knees following the Tet offensive, the old fool announced that he was hanging up his spurs. Johnson too, was a democrat and a shameless coward. The loss of that war should be credited solely to LBJ.

You are absolutely right that the biggest wars have happened when Democrats have been in the Oval office. The US generally does not start wars, but is pulled into them by the actions of others (Pearl Harbor, 9/11, etc.). But the Dems are also the party of big government, and that means big military.

Unfortunately, the Democratic party of today is NOT Jack Kennedy's party, or FDR's party. They have been driving fast to the left, toward globalization, open borders, and no morals.

But in their defense, I do remember how all the members of Congress were united after 9/11, supporting quick military action. I believe that most Americans are very proud of this country, and when we get attacked, we all become hawkish pretty fast.

Technically, WWI and WWII wasn't started by Democratic presidents, so that number goes down drastically.
Now, to answer the question. Republicans are called the "war party" because of the sitaution that's going on today. It was a Republican president who took action to punish those who killed our citizens. It was a Republican president who started the War in Iraq, which most Americans dislike. Anyways, the "war party" phrase was pretty much developed because of the War in Iraq. Almost all Republicans support it, thus called the "war party".

I think the democrats really believe that if they say something long and loud enough if becomes true. Look back on campaign promises as well. How many years have they tried to use race and social security? Funny thing is when they are in power they do nothing. For the past six years all I have heard from them is complaining that Bush won (or from their vantage point stole) the election.

Better check your facts. Ike was in office when we got into Vietnam. 1960. JFK took office in 1961.

Also, we do have a habit of FINISHING, don't we? Instead of leaving the locals to face the consequences alone, like when Nixon pulled us out of Vietnam, Ike pulled us out of Korea, Bush Sr. pulled us out of Iraq without finishing up. Just kinda tucked the old tail between the legs and slunk off.

ja_M, check this out. Here are some facts for you.

When will Bush come out & tell his sheeple he's gay?

How on earth did a $200/hour gay male prostitute get past post-9/11 White House security nearly every day for two years to get within spitball distance of George W. Bush?

Mr. President, did you have sex with that man? Bush has never had much of a poker face. He's easy to read... like when he was in the classroom getting the news that the World Trade Center had been attacked for the 2nd time... you could tell he knew exactly what was going on... well, in these photos, it looks like there's a little something going on with these two gays.

Hmmmm...Bush hugs Gay Jeff but refuses to hug Kathy Harris!

Wilson, Roosevelt, Lincoln didn't "start" their wars.
How many wars have been started by the Libertarian Party?

GOP is the War Party simply because they defend defense spending during times of peace.

... so we shouldn't have went to war so much? Probably should've stayed out of WWII... that Hitler guy was OK... right? And the Civil war was started by the South... they fired the first shots... but the facts don't seem to matter much to you...

But, to answer your question...
Why are the Republicans such pansies historically... why do we Democrats have to do everything... I'm getting tired of these Republicans that love peace so much... well I guess someone has to stand up and fight for freedom... the Republicans clearly aren't going to do it when you look at history...

There will be no real liberal democrats would dare to answer this queston as they would deny that among all those great Presidents have even had one single democrat.. They would lie under any circumstances to protect their stupid "progressive liberalism"!!!.
