Thankfully, some games are actually written with different degrees of difficulties in mind, so there can occasionally be cheats such as this. Without you listing any specific games I can't tell you exactly, but by far the best place to go for game cheats is:
www.gamefaqs.com (and not gamefacts as someone else has answered here)
It's certainly the most comprehensive site I've used over the years as a video games tips writer, and you can virtually guarantee that the cheats actually work!
Hope you find something helpful there.
One further thing for you to consider...
Have you tried contacting the games writers? They're all very receptive to feedback, and I can wholeheartedly recommend that you try this course of action.
For instance, take a particular game, read the box to see who wrote it, find their website, and hopefully you'll be able to email them.
Be polite and tell them what game you're telling them about. Tell them why you find it easy, remembering to stress particular locations, giving the best descriptions possible.
You might not hear back from them, but I guarantee they will listen. If enough people have pointed out similar things, you can bet that their next production will reflect this.
I'm sorry if some of this may sound obvious, but it doesn't hurt to point it out.
Good luck!

If you want more challenges, the PC based games are much more challenging. And many do not suffer the fatigue of having to go through the same terrain/battle etc to win the game, that is, on most good PC games, no two games are the same.

Not a cheat, but a suggestion. Get online and play against real people. No matter how technologically advanced games ever get, AI will never be as clever as human opponents
