It must be 12 because teens know everything. Realistically I believe the average age is about 27. By 27 most people have settled into their careers and life-styles enough to feel that extensive research or learning does not cause great life changes.

I'm 46 years-old and continue to learn through various means like reading, crossword puzzles, and the INTERNET; However, I suspect that most avid learners in a population make up about 0.27% (27 out of 10,000).
