What is "poor" to you?

Poor to me means many things - some of those things are - a lack of manners and breeding. Another idea of "poor" are those who shut themselves off from the world, and don't allow anyone in. All they can do is to wallow in self pity - I see that as being poor - Poor means looking at the color of a human being and deciding because of just a color that a person is good or bad - I find that extremely poor.

Poor is not trying to live the best way one can - not enjoying what the world has to offer, but instead complains and is never content with what one has - while others have to struggle almost every minute of their lives.

Poor means never realizing how rich one is inside.

Poor is living under a bridge when you are ten years old. Poor is living in a car with three kids..

Poor is going to bed hungry at night. Drinking a glass of water so your belly doesn`t hurt.

Poor is living in a cardboard box.

Poor is looking in trash cans behind krogers for food.

Poor is having the electric turned off in 100 degree weather because you can`t pay the 400.00 a month and dying from heat stroke.

Poor is not having the up to date clothes and all the kids making fun of you at school till you feel worthless.

Poor is not having money to take your baby to the doctor and watching it die.

Poor is not being able to pay the dentist 150.00 to pull that tooth that has been hurting you for weeks. So you suffer horribly until if falls out. or you die at 42 because you can`t afford the dentist and get an infection around your heart from an abcess in your mouth.

Poor is not being able to pay for the medicine you need to stay alive.

Poor is making 700.00 a month, paying 350.00 for house note, 350.00 to utilities, and going hungry so you have a roof over your head at least. Not having your oxygen and breathing medicines, heart medicines, Insulin to name a few.

Poor is eating pocorn for three weeks ,morning, noon, and dinner, so you can pay the house note.. So you don`t have to sleep under a bridge.

Poor is eating dog food while sleeping under a bridge.

Hmmmm, I bet you wonder where you would find these kind of people. Well right here in the good old USA.. Right this minute. Right now. In the richest Country in the world..

I think Dicken's Christmas Carol sums it up best. Never would have said that below 40 years of age..to lack a certain generosity in one's spirit..it's hard to judge though because most of us probably know someone who is that way, or to a degree and still not strictly speaking a "bad person"..how's that my feathered friend? Go Flutie!!!!!!! Can't stand that movie though. Also, im with Laura on this. Life shouldn't be more about pain than laughter if it can be avoided.

There are many aspects of being "poor". Economically, it is having not enough money to support yourself nor your family. As for other aspects, poor could also describe your demeanor toward others, such as acting stupid, or acting like you have no education or intelligence. But the number one meaning of "poor", is having NO money!!!

yes,yes,the poor lack almost everything.Low pay means little or no money.People like the "rich and famous"not the "down and out".Little or no money means if your car breaks down you may not leave ahead of a hurricane.you may not have insurance of any kind.Etc,etc.

poor is not having anyone to talk to when you need help, or not having a roof over your head. i think friends and family are way more important than any kind of material though.
