Had a felony in NC - nonviolent (possession of over 1 ounce of marijuana); no jail time. 20 years ago. Clean ever since (learned my lesson, believe me). Voluntarily trained in Christian ministry and ministered to prisoners. Held steady job ever since, have family and kids. I want expungement, but NC law seems to prohibit any expungement/expunction possibilities for me, except a slim change with 96-90. Any hope for me? Anyone? Please?

Sounds like you know pretty well about your predicament. It appears, however, if you were under 21 at the time of the offense, you could apply for exp unction for 'minor possession offense.' although I am not sure what the minor possession offense would apply to your offense. See G.S. § 90-96

What do you mean by the slim chance? Appears you had a minor possession offense. Could be you were over 21 then? If I were you I would seek a legal advise from veteran defense attorneys. (he or she should be able to tell your chance)

You need a lawyer, my grand dad was a bank robber in 1955 He done 13 years in prison. He got out in 1969 He got a lawyer in the late 80's now it's off of his record as a felony. But of course I think it's somehow on some record.. But if i go into Oklahoma department of corrections.com his name is not there. I guess so many years passed and he's stayed out of trouble, so it's no longer on his record. It's clean. So if he robbed a bank, and has no longer got a record. Your mickey mouse crime should be gone for real. Good Luck.

I think there is a possibility for expunction. Check this statute, scroll down to (e).
