The Republicans made a huge issue out of gay marriage. In doing so, they got the support of the religious right, and in all probability, won the election because of it. Meanwhile, the evangelists and Bible bangers are now furious with the President because he has reneged on his promise to ban gay marriage. NOW DON'T YOU FEEL A LITTLE STUPID?

I admit that I feel a bit used by our President. I voted for him, after a personal struggle of decision, because I opted for any chance at right to life issue passage. Yes, it seems he has not followed through as ardently as I would have hoped. But you, questioner, seem more upset than I am. It seems, though, that with any politician, from any state, red or blue, from any party, in the end must negotiate, and no voter seems to get exactly what he/she wants done. Such is life.

Come, Lord Jesus, And right soon.

Good question.

Interesting question, and yes there are those that feel that way.

For the 80% of voters, on BOTH sides, the ones that care about it & work to get these guys elected... they don't care about us, never have & never will. They don't have to, cause if a conservative is pissed they can't stop gay marriage, what are they going to do, vote for a democrat... or a liberal (pick an issue) voting republican in frustration. It's the 15-20% in the middle they care about & that they'll keep their promises too.

So, while both bases get fired up & frustrated. This kind of thing is just politics & top be expected.

QUOTE; "You are wrong; Bush is currently trying to get a bill passed in congress that defines marriage as a man and a woman. So I guess that makes you the stupid one."

Let's see how that works out for you. Even though the repubs are in the majority, it will never pass. So where does that leave you? By the way, really good job of name calling. You just proved how sharp witted republicans can be when they put some thought into it.

I don't feel stupid at all. If your alternative is the ultra-liberal, no morals, no family Democrats, then any other choice has to be better. And since our two party system makes 3rd parties irrelevant, there is only one choice.

Now, the President is supporting an amendment on marriage. You might check your civics textbook, but the President can't ban anything.

Congress makes laws, and they are the ones who have not passed legislation. Perhaps he could have focused more on this issue, but as long as it moves forward now, who can complain?

Anyone over 30 knows that nothing happens very fast in Washington.

Stupid? Gay marriage has been banned successfully in every state that has given their voters a chance to vote on the matter. Alabama is banning it right now as a matter of fact. Bush brought the issue into the spotlight in '04 and the states acted on it. NOW DON"T YOU FEEL A LITTLE STUPID YOURSELF? Next time do some research!

LOL ... how long has the GOP been promising to stop abortion? Yet every bill they pass is carefully crafted so as to be stricken down by judicial review. What a great campaign speech for the First Baptist Goomers: "I sponsored a bill to outlaw abortion, but the liberal judges struck it down! Vote for me!" The GOP and the religious right deserve each other.

convinced. faith, quite Christianity, sculpted the authorities. even if we vowed to save faith out of authorities or no longer is out of date at this element- Our authorities became determined and shaped with faith in thoughts, and the leaders of at present are too afraid to admit and adjust it. we are no longer a Christian united states, no longer anymore. Our founding fathers needed us to be, yet we are no longer. I quite have a Jewish pal, a Hindu pal, Christian and Buddhist and atheist acquaintances alike. Politics want to offer up being inspired by ability of religion and faith, and initiate being inspired by ability of the authentic needs of the individuals. and that is what i imagine. :)
