1) Most Hawaiians welcomed being part of America.
2) Few still wanted independence, couldn't fight.
3) More opportunities for growth and life improvement.
4) Only a liberal Democrat would appologize unless directly recently involved. Hawaii has universal forced on employer healthcare IF one works full time...SO most people work 32 hours unless they own the place...unintended DRASTIC consequences...BUT sure looked GOOD on paper!

It took 100 years because those responsible were not the ones who apologized. Every generation ends up apologizing for the evil doings of their ancestors.

Because Clinton realzed the wrongdoings of his predecessors, and felt that he needed to make ammends. He needed to let the people of Hawaii know of our prior short comings. He wanted Unity.
