i dont think that is something that can have one answer.. the reason being that goalkeepers influence a game as much as strikers. everyone remembers a striker cos he scores a goal but a keeper how many saves do they make in a game? numerous and they do not get the recognition they deserve.. same as a defender.. also the games have changed over the years with more emphasis on speed and fitness and less on guile and cunning.. also it seems so many people dive or cheat to gain an advantage the world over.. you cannot tackle from behind any more even if it is a good clean tackle.. and the balls now are a lot lighter.. you cannot say that the players now can hit a ball harder than in the 50's or 60's.. for example take steven gerrards cup final goal, compare that to ron radfords goal many years ago also in the cup.. i am sure if those guys where around now they would burst the ball..there are many things to consider.. it would be like saying who was the greatest boxer who ever lived? it is a debate to go on for centuries..

With out a doubt it would be Maradona because the goal he scored againest England after the hand of god is the greatest goal scored ever in a world cup which they even say it in the highlights in fifa.com one of the greatest goals but some people say pele i think he is good i seen some of his stuff but Pele is the greatest goal scored for me but Maradona has a way to make the game more interesting and the way he moves the ball is just awsome

without a doubt Gary Neville.
No seriously, there are too many but i would guess that kocsis (hungary) 1950's- 60's 11 goals in 1954 world cup. Eusebio (portugal), Beckenbauer (germany), Nat lofthouse (eng) pele obviously, maradona and probably bobby moore.
Now that would be a class team.

PELE -- who is a very nice guy too. I spoke with him on two occasions in 1978 in a hotel I was working at at the time. He had come to London with his Santos team for a friendly match with England. I asked him to sign 11 photos of him for various members of staff. I was with him and his wife in the hotel lift going up to his room while he was signing. He was very nice and signed all 11 photos. His wife was a pain in the *** "THAT IS ENOUGH" she said angrily to her husband !! I did not keep any of the photos for myself only to learn later that they fetch some £1,000 (US$2,000) each today.

Maradona and Pele. Can't seperate them. Although come the next World Cup it may well be Ronaldo de Assis Moreira. That's Ronaldinho to you and me.
