First, go into Windows and set your Parental Controls & Pop-Up Stopper. Then, download free stuff like adware/spyware - go to Google & "google" it - Newsday has a column by a great guy - Lou Dolinar - archive him - I read his column every week - so archive him and your computer will be in tip-top shape. Then get Norton Internet Security - I buy it in Sept. of every year when the rebate comes out, so it's basically free (except for the tax - so it'll cost you like 5 bucks) AND you get a year subscription to Norton Live Update - don't install it until Dec. - that way - you buy it let's say this Sept. '06; install it Dec '06; register it Dec. '06 and it automatically updates to '07 info every month - then buy it again from Staples or Best buy when they have the rebates (in Sept '07 & install in Dec '07) & do it again. Norton has the best parental controls, but there's also nothin' like checking your kid's email account or where they've been, in reason!

Check your computer and make sure you don't have spyware installed that is causing the pop-ups. I'd guess someone visited a porn site without your knowledge and by clicking on the "free" porn link a spyware or pop-up program was installed on your computer. www.bazooka.com is a good freeware spyware program and I know there are several other good programs available.

Another good freeware program that will help identify all programs running and how to uninstall them is CrapCleaner available for free at www.ccleaner.com This program will also clean all the old cookies off your computer and should be used regularly to keep your computer working well.

1) Turn on the pop-up blocker in your internet browser. It's usually found in the Tools menu, under Internet Options.

2) Get another pop-up blocker. Yahoo has one with their toolbar that's free and easy to install.

I also recommend running some anti-spyware on your system, if it has been getting a lot of these (sometimes they come with other things). Again, Yahoo's toolbar can help with this, but you should also get something like Adaware that you can run on a regular basis to help keep your system clean.

If you are using Microsoft explorer:
Click on "Tools" the second option is "pop ups" that takes care of most pop ups. After that, scroll down to "Internet Options" click on "Scurity" there you'll find the option "Security level for this zone" In that box you'll find everything you need to block potential threats. There is also a place to ad a password.

Use a program like spybot search and destroy or lavasoft ad aware to make sure you don't have any spyware on your system that could be causing the popups. Both programs can be downloaded legally for free on the internet. Also use AVG free edition to scan your computer for viruses.

Once you're sure your system is clean of spyware and viruses download spyware blaster (also free) to keep your system in the clear.

I hope this helps.

If you are concerned I would get netnanny from netnanny.com. It costs about 40 for the software but is well worth it for the young minds it will save. The software will protect your kids from porn and porn pop ups also other things that may be harmful.

Install some parent control software. If you google "parent control", I think you can get a lot of options. Sorry that I don't have a recommendation for you. I just know there are some software available.

There are many ways to block them. Like mentioned above, get the google toolbar, the yahoo toolbar, or enable the pop-up blocker in internet explorer. You can get these pop-ups, without ever going to a porn site..

You can go into your internet browser options and block out websites with certain words or you can pay for a program on the market that does this for you.
