The video for the song takes place in a strange, circus-themed wedding. The video starts as the bride and groom are getting ready for the wedding. The woman, who is just about to get married, runs out after arguing with her boyfriend, most likely asking him why he invited these circus freaks to the wedding. One of the clowns runs after her. The leader of the circus freaks, and lead singer of the band, Brendon Urie leads the man outside, where his girlfriend and the clown who pursued her out of the church are kissing. The clowns put on sad faces, yet their face painted faces still look like they are smiling. Urie and the man bow to the camera. And the man becomes the new leader of the circus freaks. Although it is unknown what happened to Urie.

The character telling the story is the groom, he's pacing nervously and overhears a conversation between a bride's maid and a waiter calling the bride a whore. He is initially angry, then realizes he should handle the situation with "poise and rationality" since
"technically the marriage is saved." This may be debateable, but I think he is saying that "closing the door" is a metaphor for moving on from the past. Perhaps the bride was a whore in the past, and the groom is trying to handle it rationally.
PS: The video doesn't give the song meaning. It is different.

A guy is at a wedding and it's so happy, but the sad thing is that the bride is a prostitute(but they use whore in the song) so the guy asks haven't u people ever heard of closin'the goddamn door, i think he means that b/c there are so many weird people. so the bride flees the room and the guy persuades the groom to go after her. so he goes outside and finds the bride making out with one of the guys at the reception. so the guy tips the rim of his hat and he's the groom and outside everyone is dancing like nothing has happened, and this guy on stilts breathes fire, and that's it. the end is so weird. by the way, I'm talking about the video. it's basically the song though. they did a good job on making the video make sense with the song, but i think it was a little too obscene.

OMG! I just read a question that asked about Fall About Boy and decided to listen to it! I'm listening to it now! What a coincidence! Anyhow, If you've seen the video then you'll get it. Think about the title and the story in the video.
The wife....Kissing another guy...Marriage...Get it?
He's writing sins that people commit...Not tragedies..

the story is about a man that loves his fiance` but she's a whore, hence the line (but the grooms bride is a whore) and brandon , the lead singer, tells the groom about his wife being a slut and they see the wife making out with the clown.
