It's north of Las Vegas a 150 miles or so. The proper area name is Groom Dry Lake and you can see it on Google earth, I'm pretty sure. The government tests new planes there and god-only-knows what else, but more power to them. They have to do it somewhere and Groom Lake is why we have planes like the (retired) SR-71 that got us thought the cold war and the current B2 Stealth bomber and F117 stealth fighter. You don't have to work there for 120 days straight. Unmarked 737's commute up there every day from the Las Vegas airport. The planes sit in, well, plain sight (pardon the pun), right across the strip from the Mandalay Bay hotel. They are plain white with a red stripe on the side. I saw an interview show where a reporter followed someone home that had come from the off-limits terminal and tried to ask them about theirjob. There person just slammed the door in the guy's face. So, the feds must pay them really well to keep quite or threaten them with something worse than death, but in any case, normal people go work there every day.
Also, I don't think the signs say "You will be shot." I think they say "Use of deadly force authorized" or something slightly more tactful.
So, now you know what I know. If I disappear in the next few days, you'll know why. lol

It’s not that big a deal. If you’re looking for super secret research aircraft that press the margins of human belief, you want to go to Edwards AFB for that. They research, design, & test experimental aircraft there alongside folks from NASA & companies like Lockheed.
Area 51 is part of the Nellis AFB Test Range & home to Groom Lake AB. When aircraft come here, we’re not seeing how they fly anymore. This is where you come to be tested in a real world combat environment & monitored by tons of electronic gear. If you want to fly a formation of stealth UCAVs, coordinate their airstrike with a special ops team on the ground, then dogfight with MiGs on the way back, and watch it all on an experimental radar of the future… well, this is the place you’re looking for. In fact there is more research/testing of electronic gear going on than aircraft. There are also a lot of run of the mill things going on. This is where the annual red flag exercise takes place (every military fighter pilot comes here at some point, and many folks in other jobs as a part of the combined arms aspect of the exercise), as well as desert combat & survival training.
This is where we practice & learn how to fight the wars of the future with the potential weapons of the future. Even if the public knows about the aircraft & what it can do, do you really want a website explaining the future warfighting strategy of the US. They have a very good security system (a lot llike what they're talking about putting on the border) of heat, vibration, motion sensors, & a lot of Air Force cops. They'll stop you before you get within miles of anything, arrest you if you persist, and shoot you if you make them.

Area 51 is a part of the Nellis Air Force Base testing range. The area is used to house equipment under development. For example, stealth technology was first tested using the various electronic warfare ranges in Nevada which Nellis supports. Area 51 is the location the planes stayed at while under going research and development. You will be shot for unauthorized entry.

It's a military base, it was a military base before that "incident" and continues to be today -- you can find that sign in a bunch of places across the country.
The 120 day thing is not true, unless they were deployed somewhere, I think.

this entire ingredient is disgusting,a great number of cuts for us basic human beings yet a great number of rises for them,it is an absolute shame! maximum anybody is fortunate to work out a small pay upward push, many take a decrease of their wages to maintain their jobs and each and all of the whilst centers such because of the fact the NHS,policing and training are suffering because of the fact our united states is meant to be so damaging, humorous the way it is not damaging for the MP's. I definitely do no longer understand how any of them can ask for the conventional public to vote for them whilst they are doing this,i visit be out to vote on the subsequent established election besides the undeniable fact that it is going to easily be to wreck a paper with 'not one of the above'.
