Very easy fix if you dont have soldering skills or tools, is to go to the hardware store and get whats called a compression fitting in the size of your pipe. Then cut the pipe on each side of the bad part and install the fitting. you can use a hacksaw but its only 2-3 $ for a cheap tubing cutter while your at the store. the fitting is longer so you can cut 1/2" out of the pipe and no problem. If you cut much more just get anouther fitting and a small piece of pipe to replace the section. the fitting is just tightend with 2 wrenchs or pliers or what you have.

Copper Water Pipe

suggestion.

You need

1) pipe cutter.
2) sandpaper
3) double sided compresion fitting.
4) adjustable wrench

If you can find a double sided compression fitting. Turn the main water off to your house. Cut the pipe above and below the hole with the pipe cutter. Put on the compression fitting.

A compresion fitting simply "screws" to the pipe easier fix the try to add a new copper sleave which needs to be sweated on.

Another possibility, go to your local HOme Dept...ect. and see if they have a "patch" pipe that actually goes around the outside and tightens down like a clamp.

Buy a hacksaw and cut a small piece off the copper pipe.
Take that piece to the hardware store and tell them you want 2 adapters that size to go from copper pipe to PVC (plastic pipe).
Then buy some pvc pipe that size (and some glue and cleaner), and cut the pipe to the length you need and replace the bad copper pipe with the pvc pipe.
Make sure you clean all surfaces with the cleaner before you use the glue...and put lots of glue on the pipe you want to join.
Allow several minutes drying time before using.

While you can do such repairs yourself, you still need to buy proper materials and tools. If you mess up, you may end up with an even more expensive repair job plus more water damage. Even if you don't have a lot of money, it may be worth calling around to some small local plumbing businesses to see if someone will help you out without charging an arm and a leg.

you could try to

* first of all stop the water from going through the pipe so that it dries off...its important that the pipe is dry...

*then you need to check out the local hardware store for something that is like liquid nails or a water sealent. I know we had something in a can here in Australia that you can use.

*dont use the liquid nails if there is hot water running through the pipe as it will melt off....

email me if you like...

Depending on the size of pipe, you might be able to shore up the hole with a pipe clamp. They are cheap and easy to install.

Duct tape fixes everything.. alittle duct tape on the car and whoaaaa (just kidding).

Honey, I think while you can do this kind of stuff yourself it's best you leave it in the hands of pros. Afterall, if you mess up you'll call them anyway.
