Eliminate all sugar from your home! Throw it in the garbage cans! Dump milk and mustard on it so your not tempted to go get it out of the garbage.
Go for a walk EVERYDAY for about an hour, snack on things like cherries, cherry tomatoes or plain popcorn...hope this helps.

Instead of dieting, try just eating healthy. Eat chicken a lot, and look online for some low fat recipes. Then, pick 1/2 and hour every day and exercise. Start by just walking around the block, and move up from there. You might look into joining a cheerleading or dance class to get more exercise. I have a weight watchers cookbook that I use. Here is the website for it: oxmoorhouse.com. These are fast and easy, and are all low in fat. Try adding more fruit and vegetables to your diet, and cut out the snack food. That should help you lose some weight. Good Luck!!

This isn't really a diet, you don't have to count calories, carbs, or fat. Although it is good to look at what is in the food you are eating. The only time you need to look at calories is when you are buying food. The label has the number of calories in 1 serving. Try multiplying the number of calories in one serving by the number of servings in the container to see just how many calories are in the whole thing. A typical meal if you follow a 5 meal plan should contain about 300 to 450 calories, for three meals a day, it should be 500 to 650.

The best thing to do, is stop drinking soda. That is one of the worst things if you are trying to lose weight. Also, make a point of trying to eat at least 5 servings of fruit EVERY DAY. Instead of eating 3 huge meals a day, try to break that up into 5 smaller meals. It is best to eat protein and carbs in the morning, not at night. Look for foods that don't have High Fructose Cornsyrup, or Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to keep moving. Try getting a pedometer and see if you can walk 10000 steps everyday. Just getting outside everyday and walking around helps.

Take this to a nutritionist and see what they think.

Man. That's not good. I'm 14, and if I was that heavy, I would be very concerned for my health. Act now.

Do research. Make a diet plan for yourself. Don't necessarily cut out all unhealthy foods, just limit yourself to maybe once a week or so. Try becoming a vegetarian. When I was in 6th grade, I was 160 pounds. I became a vegetarian and lost 20 pounds. Read the Dummies Guide to Vegetarianism by Suzanne Havala. It was a great book with a lot of information that you might appreciate. Also, try talking to your parents about what options you have. A fat farm during the summer? A dance class? YMCA membership? Also, eliminate most unhealthy foods out of your refrigerator, and don't bring extra food money with you when you go out. If you can't access it, you can't eat it. Anyways...so yeah. Try making a diet plan by this: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner. That way, you'll have three meals throughout the day, but when you get hungry, you'll have something HEALTHY to snack on.

Base your diet on fruits and vegetables, then whole grains (if it says whole wheat, that doesn't mean that it's whole grain), then legumes, then nuts and seeds, and lastly, dairy. Make sure you drink alot of water.

One last thing to remember: PORTION SIZE IS KEY. 4 cups of pasta is NOT one serving; its 8! We've been taught to oversize our plates, but now, we need to change what we've learned. Search for "WHAT COUNTS AS A SERVING" on Google and it will come up with a useful chart of servings of portions of foods.

This is my current Food Plan that I make my menus from:

Food Plan

Daily Servings

qWhole Grain - 5 Servings
qFruits - 3 Servings
qVegetables - 6 Servings
qNuts + Seeds - 1 Serving
qLegumes (Beans, Peas, Lentils, Soy Products) –1 Serving
qDairy and Dairy Alternatives – 2-3 servings
qWater – 4 16 oz. bottles
qSupplement (Multivitamin)

1.Breakfast
q1 serving whole grain
q1 serving fruit
q1 serving dairy or dairy alternative
q1 bottle of water
q1 supplement

2.Snack*
q1 serving whole grain

3.Lunch**
q4 servings vegetables
q1 servings fruit
q1 serving whole grain
q1 serving dairy and dairy alternatives
q1 bottle of water

4.Snack*
q1 serving nuts and seeds
q1 bottle of water

5.Dinner **
q2 serving whole grain
q1 serving fruit
q2 serving vegetables
q1 serving legumes
q1 serving dairy and dairy alternative (optional)
q1 bottle water

*Snacks are interchangeable
**Lunch and Dinner are interchangeable

Also, try talking to a dietician or a nutritionist (nutritionist services are FREE at the YMCA for YMCA members). Hope this helps! =)

Sincerely,

Kali

I weighed 260 pounds as a Senior and I lost 100 pounds using Weight Watchers. Have your mom go with you to the first meeting. They will teach her how to prepare the food you will need. They will give you a system for tracking how much food to eat. The best thing about them is that you have to go weigh-in every week; accountability will help you remember not to cheat.

Go shopping with your mom. Remind her not to buy ANY convenience food or snacks. If you don't have anything in the house that is quick and easy to eat, you can't snack without thinking about it first. This will make it easier to stick to your diet.

You will need to put in a lot of effort the first two weeks. It will be very hard to stick to your diet at first, but it gets easier if you don't cheat. There is a physical addiction to sugar and fat, you will be going through withdrawal. Hang in there!

You don't need to exercise yourself to death. Just increase your activity about 10 minutes per day and increase it another 5 minutes each week until you are up to 30 minutes each day. It doesn't matter what exercise you do, just something that makes you sweat a little and increases your heart rate.

Remember to drink lots of water. You will need to replace the water you lose from sweat and extra water will help to fill your stomach. There are some studies that suggest that extra water will also help your body to use your fat for energy. Don't worry about "retaining water"; your body will pass any water it doesn't need.

You should also pair up with someone. Losing weight alone is probably the hardest thing to do. But if you have a someone who is doing it to, at least you have someone there for support. And doing little things every day is a start. For instance, if you cut out the pop alone, that is a lot of calories you are not consuming. Drink water instead, and a lot of it, it will help fill you up so you are not tempted to eat when you are not hungry. Don't skip meals or quit eating, that is really not healthy for you.
Another simple thing to do is not take the short cut. Like if you and your mom go to the mall, don't look for the closest parking spot to the door. Park WAY out there.
You can also keep a diary of everything you did and ate for the day. I don't like this idea, but I guess it works for some.
If you need help, let me know. siberian84@yahoo.com
Good luck to you!

I've battled weight all my life and there's no easy answer. A good place to start is to look at what kinds of habits you might have that helped you get where you are and see what you can change. Exercise is always a good place to start but is as hard to make yourself do as quitting eating! :-)

If you haven't already, try to see a doctor or even a school nurse. They can often have good ideas that will fit into your lifestyle and may also be able to ask questions or do tests that might reveal underlying health issues for why you gain and/or can't lose weight.

When I would really watch what I was eating and keep track of it correctly, Weight Watchers really helped me. But you do have to keep track of everything and be really honest with yourself. I was having to do it alone because there were no meetings near me, but if you're in a large enough area there should be meetings and possibly even meeting just for teens.

Good Luck!! It's a hard battle but well worth it when you succeed.

If you want to diet dont eat things you arent comfortable wiht. Try eating as many fruits as possible. For example: instead of eating a big breakfast, eat an apple and drink some orange juice. I know salad van be gross, but fruit salads are great. Not only will you have a great amount of energy, but your skin wil be glowing. ALso, ask your parents if you can join a kick-boxing class, or join a gym. Doing things at home is tough because sometimes we tend to get lazy. But if you join a gym, you will be obligated to doing this. I'm thirteen years old so i understand teen stress. I hope i have helped you!

lotsa love<3, maya =)

Go to the mirror when you are alone - look at yourself naked? And ask yourself, "Do I like who I see in the mirror"? - You will probably answer NO! - - - If you are not sticking to it, you are probably eating to little and therefore, you are hungry and then when you eat because you are hungry, you overeat... You should eat between 7-9 (breakfast) 1 cup of oatmeal, 2 waffles 80 calories each with 1 tbs of diet syrup, and always have a fruit, small apple, small pear, - 1 whole wheat light english muffin; 1 cup kashi too good friends or kashi go lean heart to heart cereal with 1 cup skim milk, - 12-1 (lunch - 1 cup of beans with salad, everything and anything of vegetables 1 cup - 3oz of meat, -3:3:30 (snack) 1 Dannon Lite Yogurt with 3 cup of Healthy Choice popgram or 1 cup of skim milk with 1oz of pretzels, Yogurt with 4 rice cakes,- 6pm (dinner - 1 cup of spaghetti, spinach, 3 oz. meatballs 1/2 cup of tomato sauce, 1 cup of cantaloupe, 1tsp. Oil, or 1 cup beans, 2/3 brown rice, 1-1/4 cup of watermelong or kiwi, 1tsp. Margarine, or 3oz roast chicken, 1 cup beets, 1 small baked potato, 1cup honeydew or 4oz banana, 1tsp Margarine) 8pm - 9pm (snack) - 1-1/4 cup watermelon or 1 orange with 3 graham crackers, 3/4 cup of fresh pineapple or 1/2 cup packed in its own juice with 6 saltines, or 4 dried apricots and 5 lowfat Nilla wafers, or 1 peach or 1/2 cup canned peaches packed in its own juice with 6 saltines crackers... - you are able to eat anything and everything except of course, cookies and fatty foods, and cut down on your portions and you will see that you will start losing weight... Also, make sure that you put some type of exercise at least 30 minutes a day, but do not over do it.. Good Luck.. Now this is just an example of things that you could be eating but with moderation and watching the amout that you are eating . . . as you go you can change the foods, but keep the amount of portions..

As a form of motivation (I'm gonna do this after I have my baby) post a picture of either yourself at the weight you use to be if you've recently gained some, or of someone who's at the weight you want to be on your fridge and cabinets, so when you go to get a snack you'll see that pic and it will remind you of your goals!! You don't have to be on a strict diet, don't let it rule your life, just make smart choices when it comes to food and drink a lot of water.. and of course be more active!! hope this helps, and good luck!
