The Book of Mormon was translated from ancient plates by the Prophet Joseph Smith, who testified that he translated them through the power of God. The Nephite record was engraved on gold plates, or thin goldlike sheets, which the prophet Moroni buried in a stone box in the Hill Cumorah around AD 42. Joseph Smith first obtained the plates at the Hill Cumorah in New York on September 22, 1827, and began translation shortly thereafter. His wife Emma recalled that Joseph dictated the translation word for word to a scribe, primarily Oliver Cowdry, spelling out proper names and correcting the scribe's errors although he could not see what the scribe had written. After a meal or a night's rest he would resume, without prompting, exactly where he had left off. Despite persecution and the constant threat that the gold plates would be stolen, virtually all of the English text of the Book of Mormon was translated within sixty working days in April, May, and June of 1829. Reports state that at times Joseph used a seer stone or Urim and Thummim to discern the reformed Egyptian characters, but the progress of the translation depended primarily on his own spiritual efforts and righteousness.

My dear friend,
The book you should be reading is the Bible. It is the only book that is truth from cover to cover. It is the only book that God (jesus Christ) has given to us and is therefore, authoritative. If you want wisdom then read the Bible. Ask the Lord for understanding and obedience to that which you understand. You do not need any other book to give you "info" about the Bible--just go directly to the author, God!
The book of Mormon is a waste of time and cannot even approach the authority, valodity, and majesty of the Bible (KJV). If you would like further information see: www.familyradio.com.

Behold the stick of Judah and the stick of Joseph!
Ezek. 37: 19
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
- - - - -
Consider this!
The bible was originally written in Hebrew - it was traslated back and forth through the greek and latin languages multiple times over - unauthorized people have added and taken away from these holly writings which are now called The Bible - The Bible is not a single writing - it is an assortment of holly writings or books, assembled by the early church - The Bible is a library of holly writings - it is not a single truth, it is multiple truths
I would say to you...we believe in the Bible as far as it is translated correctly!
The Book Of Mormon is another testement of Jesus Christ made by the other flock (Native Americans) -
John 10: 16
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

The Book of Mormon was written by ancient prophets, just as the Bible was written by prophets and apostles of Christ. The writing was done by the spirit of revelation and prophecy. Many authors had contributed directly or were quoted in the final abridgment of ancient records compiled by the prophet, historian, and military leader Mormon near 400 A.D.

I know it's at least as old as the 1800's, because Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about them in Sherlock Holmes.
