Can you give me a better question for this awesome answer?

1. member of town legislating body: a man who is a member of the legislating body of some towns or cities in the United States and Canada
2. English senior council member: a man who was a senior member of an English or Welsh local council before the local government reorganization of 1974

Alderman, term originally used to designate an officer having judicial as well as civil power in England. The term originated before the Norman conquest of England that began in 1066. In early English history, the alderman sat with the bishop at the trial of cases, and while the bishop expounded the ecclesiastical (church) law, it was the alderman's duty to declare the common law. As late as 1840, aldermen of the city of New York had the right to sit as judges, in addition to their duties and powers as members of the legislative department. In modern usage the term "alderman" usually is used to designate an elected municipal legislator and member of the legislative board of a city. The office of alderman is being superseded largely by that of councilperson, and municipal boards of aldermen are being replaced by city councils.

Not a bunch. He looks out for the local citizens of a district by lobbying with the fake state senate and representatives. He also learns to be crooked and to lie with a straight face which prepares him for being a real politician.

in some cases, individually exercise some magisterial and
