Of course it is! They are a part of the same creation we are, DUST! same chemical mix, Any how all the birds in the neighborhood recognize my voice, I had an injured crow WITH SOME blood feathers,STILL IN HIS HEAD show up at my door and live with me. A sparrow Hawk(really a small falcon) do the same in a time of crisis...Pinkie mice and meal worms cost a bundle, may I say, ALSO an African ring neck dove came home with me from a land scape job.
And a tiny white Bantam hen needing a home.
I talk to,love, curse at, hold and scratch wing pits, also, preening beak to beak, except done with MY fingers not my beak.
I draw the line at kissing beak to beak!
Oh! did you ask if talking to birds was normal?
I am sorry, I have never been accused of being normal. Bugsie/woogha

i've been expanding the flower beds in my backyard this spring. Several robins hang around sometimes, trying to get an easy worm-find. One robin kept getting closer and closer, like maybe 5 to 6 ft away, so I started tossing worms to it. I talked to it too to help make it feel more comfotable with me. It comes by now when I'm outside digging again, looking for a hand out. I also whistle to the local cardinals, mocking their calls. They know me a bit and will sit in the treetops calling back to me. I enjoy it and hope the neighbors don't think i'm crazy - but not really worrying about it or caring! well.... I guess my answer is "yes, it is normal" because I am certainly normal - as normal as normal gets, anyway!

It really depends what you are talking about with them. If you are discussing mortgage rates, for example, I would say that "no," that is not normal. If, however, you are talking to them about the best material for making a nest or the optimum tempreature of bird bath water, then the answer would be "yes."

yes,I talk whit my cat and everything around me, and you notice something? The people don't talk anymore, communication is gone, I think that's the reason Q&A work, maybe if you asking to me in the street I go away.
