I love Alice in Wonderland!!! I Also Love thw wizard of Oz... Excellent books... The New Harry Potter books are becoming my favourites as well

The Basket of Flowers - by Christoph Von Schmid
I am not sure it is a childrens book though but it was given to me on graduation from infant school (I was 6). That was 15 years ago, I still read it on occasion.

How wonderful - 21 answers and no mention of Harry Potter.
Not that I find anything wrong with HP but it is nice to know that other children's books are being appreciated.
My personal favourite is probably Robert Heinlein's Starbeast, though most of his juvenile fiction is very entertaining.
